Women and leadership: Real lives, real lessons
Join Global Institute for Women's Leadership to celebrate the UK launch of Women and Leadership: Real Lives, Real Lessons, the new book by Julia Gillard, Chair of the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership and former Prime Minister of Australia, and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Chair of the Board of Gavi, the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation, and former Finance Minister of Nigeria.
Women make up less than 10 per cent of national leaders, and behind this lies a pattern of unequal access to power. Women and Leadership is a lively analysis of the influence of gender on women’s access to positions of leadership, the perceptions of them as leaders, their trajectory and the circumstances in which it comes to an end, with accounts from women leaders including Jacinda Ardern, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Hillary Rodham Clinton and Michelle Bachelet.
I'll be speaking to the authors to find out what they learned while writing the book, and to hear about the insights they gained from speaking to such prominent female leaders.
The event will also be broadcast and recorded on our YouTube channel for anyone who can't attend via Zoom.
